CASE STUDY OTR WEB SOLUTIONS

Before reviewing client work, here’s how we approach our own platform.

OTR Designed Its Own Website Platform

Inside the Build:

How OTR Designed Its Own Website Platform

Rebuilding your own platform is a different kind of project.
There is no external brief. Every decision reflects how you actually think, how your team operates, and what you believe matters.

Why We Rebuilt the OTR Website

Our previous website held up well. It was stable, functional, and had served us for years. But over time, it became clear that it no longer reflected the level of work we deliver today, the types of clients we want to work with, and how we think about websites as business infrastructure. We weren’t dealing with failure.

We were dealing with misalignment. The rebuild was about realigning the platform with where the company is going.

the reality of building your own platform

Client work always comes first. This meant balancing timelines, team availability, and evolving decisions.

Design, development, and content evolved together across the team.

The process was intentionally non-linear.

Strategic Decisions

Less Copy, More Clarity

We reduced homepage content to focus on clarity rather than volume.

Structure Over Trends

We avoided design trends in favor of usability, performance, and longevity.

Custom HTML Foundation

We chose custom HTML for control, speed, and reduced complexity. This allowed the platform to be designed intentionally, rather than adapted to a theme.

Hosting + Website as One System

We aligned hosting directly with the website architecture to eliminate hidden performance issues.

Deliberate Tone

We used direct, measured language rather than marketing-heavy messaging.

Built for Human and Machine Understanding

Content hierarchy, semantic HTML, structured information, and clear relationships were designed to help people, search engines, and emerging AI systems understand OTR accurately.

What We Didn’t Do

We did not build for everyone. We did not prioritize self-service editing. We did not follow typical agency patterns. Every omission was intentional.

Build Approach

Design, development, content, and discoverability evolved together. Search visibility, semantic structure, performance, and machine readability influenced decisions throughout the build, with final technical optimization and validation completed before launch.

Early Internal Outcomes

Conversations became more focused. Better alignment with the right clients. Less need to explain positioning.

What This Represents

This website reflects the type of work we want to do and the standards we apply. It is not designed to appeal to everyone.

The Platform Is Now the Baseline

Launch establishes a starting point, not a finish line.

Before the new OTR platform goes live, we are establishing baseline measurements for traditional search visibility, website performance, and AI discovery. After launch, those same measurements will be repeated to determine what changed, where visibility improved, and where further work is required.

The objective is not to prove a predetermined result. It is to measure what actually happens.

why this matters for clients

The same decisions applied here carry into client work.
Clarity reduces friction.
Structure reduces rework.
Disciplined platforms improve alignment before projects begin.
This approach is not specific to our website. It defines how we build for others.

A website should support long-term performance, not just launch well. If that matters, how it is built matters.
